Sunshine Beach mornings have a rhythm of their own. The surfers are out before the sun, the dog walkers nod hello on the sand, and by seven the queue at the coffee window is full of people in no particular hurry. It took us a while to realise that this pace isn't laziness. It's a skill.
Here's how to borrow a little of it, wherever you wake up.
1. Get light before you get scrolling
Before you reach for your phone, get outside for a few minutes. Morning light helps set your body clock, which supports better energy through the day and easier sleep at night. Balcony, backyard, footpath, all fine. Bonus points for bare feet on grass or sand.
2. Water first, coffee close second
You wake up a little dehydrated, so a big glass of water is the kindest first move. Then the good part. If your usual cup leaves you buzzing then flat by ten, try a blend built for steadier energy. The GOAT pairs smooth Colombian coffee with collagen and MCT, and one scoop takes about thirty seconds to make.
3. Make the first cup a moment
Not in the car. Not standing over the sink. Sit somewhere you like, hold the cup with both hands, and give it five quiet minutes. The ritual matters as much as the caffeine. This is the part our regulars at the cafe have mastered: the coffee is the excuse, the pause is the point.
4. Move a little
You don't need a training plan. A walk to the corner, some stretching on the floor, a swim if you're lucky enough to be near water. Gentle movement in the morning helps shake off sleep and sets a calmer tone than diving straight into email.
5. Decide the day's one thing
Before the noise starts, name the single thing that would make today feel good. Write it down. Everything else is a bonus.
That's it. No ice baths, no 5am club, no guilt. Just light, water, a genuinely good cup, and a few minutes that belong to you.
